I ended up swapping a lot of the fabrics from my initial fabric pull, but the colour scheme is still essentially the same as what I started with. A lot of the fabrics I used are significant to my brother and his fiance (bikes, tea pots, houses, wildlife), and even my boys commented on how many things are in there that they love, so hopefully they will love it as much as I do.
The blocks are 15" finished, so it's a bit of a monster at 75" square. I'm still deciding how to quilt it (inspiration usually strikes as I'm basting, so I'm hoping that will be the case here!) - but I'm pretty sure I'll FMQ straight lines through the background, following the diagonal of the leaves and have a bit of fun using other motifs within the leaves.
So the plan tonight is to get the backing made and get it basted, so the quilting can begin!
I'm linking up with Lee for the first time in months (hosted by my lovely friend Sarah no less!)
So stunning! I love the differing backgrounds.
Great colors. I'm sure you're brother will love it.
It looks great Jess! I have no doubt that you can get it finished in time!
it's lovely - like an adult I-spy quilt!
it's really lovely, I can't see how they'll fail to like it.
You're rocking this quilt! I'm sure you'll get it done in time!
This is just such a pleasure to see! Lovely!!
It's great Jess! I love that you didn't do the light neutral background for all of the blocks and used prints for some.
Gorgeous Jess, love the fabrics
Lovely! Nice twist on the maple leaf. When I look at a quilt like this, the first question that pops in my mind is; I wonder "How she pressed the seams"?
Will you talk about this in "Decifer your Quilt"?
It is beautiful and good luck getting it done, you can totally do it!
It looks great! Funnily enough, this is one of my bee blocks this month!
To be honest I'm not quite sure how people operate WITHOUT deadlines ;o)
This is so beautiful - love the colour combo! Hope you get it finished in time!!
I know I've told you before, but I'm saying it again...LOVE this!! The colors are perfection :)
So so gorgeous!!
Looks so wonderful.
This is lovely! I love how modern it looks. Great fabric pull and even better that they mean something to them.
This is coming along beautifully! I'm sure they'll love it. I've got to try this block, it's so clever.
This is looking SO good!
It's wonderful and your quilting plan sounds perfect. I love the fabrics you used, this quilt is still on my list.
