Finn's Quilt - progress

I am so happy to finally have put this quilt top together. I made the HSTs months ago, and they've been sitting in piles gathering dust (in the literal sense). So a few hours sewing and they've become a top.

I started with 10" squares of fabric for this one - so it would be a perfect layer-cake quilt. If there is any interest I'm happy to put together a tutorial/pattern for this.

The colours and most of the fabrics were chosen by Finn. Lots of favorites in there (tufted tweets, Echo, Lizzy House).

I'm deliberating over the quilting now. I really think straight line quilting following the zig zag pattern is the way to go... what do you think?

x Jess

I'd totally go with straight line/echo quilting in the zig zag pattern.

What a fun quilt top, very colourful and I really like the sort of asymmetrical zig zag design, if you know what I mean.

Great quilt! Loving the colours. I think echo quilting would suit this perfectly.

that is fantastic! I love how the bright colours jump off the black background. I would definitely echo quilt it in straight lines, an inch apart (or less) if you can bear it!

Love it. Your quilting plan is perfect to highlight the zig zags. I, for one, would love a tutorial. Di x

I love that Finn helped choose the fabrics for it. And your idea on quilting will work really well. It's quite lovely

I like the idea of echoing the zigzag...will you have contrasting thread on the black? (I think that would look good and break up the solid a bit...thats my personal opinion though)

Great quilt! Perfect for a boy. I would love a tutorial on how you achieved this look. I have been searching for a neat pattern for a boy quilt and I love the Zig Zag pattern.

This is a very fresh and modern looking zig zag. I would probably echo quilt the zig zags.

I agree that echoing the zig-zags is the way to go. My personal opinion would be to have the lines quite close together. I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished version.
