Firstly, I apologise for another post full of quilting close ups - just a warning there will probably be lots of these over the next few weeks. Groove is taking FOREVER to quilt (some motifs more than others) but it's pretty rewarding (thankfully!) and I'm pretty happy so far. So far I've quilted about 40" x 25" or so (which is about 1/6 of the quilt) and it's taken about 5 or 6 hours so far. And this has been the easy edge bit - the middle is going to cause some headaches I think ;o)
So, the quilty shots :o) I'm using a combination of motifs I've done before (echo shells, pebbles), one I've kind of winged it (the azure section - although it's my dodgy version of McTavishing), and I've used Angela Walter's book for inspiration for the others (seafoam - mine is nothing like hers!!!, and paisley).
I'm aiming for a mix of pointy and curved textures - and I think it works? I've never quilted anything this big this densely before, so I'll be interested to see what kind of drape it has once I'm done.
Linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced - looking forward to seeing what everyone has been working on this week :o)
xx Jess

Again, my friend, you amaze me. Quilty close-ups all you want as far as I'm concerned. It is really inspiring.
absolutely stunning - keep those pictures coming, you should be proud!!
Oh Jess, it's going to look amazing! Keep showing as often as you like!
ooooooh the swirly pebbly green is gorgeous!!!!!!
My love, you never cease to amaze me! Even tho I'm not a quilter, this is fantastic! Love always, Chris. Can't wait to be home and see it in person. Keep on quilting!
Awesome! Love the swirls with the pebbles!
BTW your new header is fantastic too!
OMG, love these! Think I need that book too o.O
Oh Jess! This is so spectacular! I love the swirls and pebbles so much.
Sadly, mine is basted and put away because I don't know what to do with it! I may have to get Angela's book too! Thanks for the inspiration!
We won't tire of seeing this amazing quilting!
This is amazing. What a masterpiece!
Hello Jess, I'm new to your blog and have been following your snail trail tutorial today, which is very clear and helpful - thankyou! However, I want to make a 6" finished block and I have no idea how to work out the measurements. Is there any way you could explain to me how I do this? I would be really grateful.
Your quilting is absolutely lovely. I'm a hand quilter, but recently by other half bought me a walking foot so I am soon going to start having a go at machine quilting, and your work is very inspiring, how long have you been quilting?
Good luck with the school holidays! Ours have just finished here, so I've been glued to the machine again, there are never enough hours...
Thanks again,
Kate

I LOVE how you are quilting this, just gorgeous!
Wow what incredible quilting!!
I guess all that practicing really does pay off in the end =D
This is awesome! I love the quilting that you're doing.
Awesome quilting. I love the different textures that you are creating. Di x
This is just looking so stunning! What a beautiful way to show off your fabulous FMQ!
I'm glad you linked up. I love your quilting--although you are much braver than I to do all those circles. (I'm not good at them and get bored with them very, very quickly. Yours look great.)
Really love seeing all of this amazing FMQ - it is going to be a stunning quilt!
i love the close-ups of quilting...well done..
Your quilting is beautiful! Is that on your sewing machine or a long arm? You are so patient to do all that tight stitching.
Hi, I've popped over from The Littlest Thistle. This quilt is really beautiful!! I love the colours and Such amazing quilting!!
Damn, but this is GORGEOUS.
This looks so great! I am interested to hear about how it drapes when you're done too.
Jess, I so love your quilting. I am far behind on reading blogs but I wanted to stop and let you know how inspiring this piece is to me.
What a find you are! I have made one of the small versions of this quilt with the idea of FMQ each colour as you have, I must admit I am now somewhat intimidated by your excellent quilting, Maybe I might just live vicariously through you and leave mine in the cupboard!
