Binding Fail

So I finished quilting Finn's quilt on Thursday (and I really need to name it soon. Ideas?). And I made the binding and sewed it to the front. And then I sewed half of it over to the back. And I hate it.

Horrible iPad photo - but you can see a peek of our new red leather sofa :o)

This is the fabric that Finn chose - but he agrees that it looks awful. So now I have a loooong date with my seam ripper, and a piece of solid black that will hopefully be enough to become binding.

Quite annoyed about having to do it, but it's going to look so much better. My gut was to go with black - maybe next time I'll actually listen to myself...

  1. I've only had to rip out one binding.. after that fiasco I always lay out several choices and fold them over the width my binding will be along the quilt edge before I choose. I never ever want to rip off a binding again! :D

  3. Aww, that's too bad. I was going to say since he chose it that you should leave it, except that he doesn't like it either!! You'll be happy that you changed it, once the memories of the ripping have faded. ;)

  7. oh poor you! I'd be tempted to cut it off myself but then I hate unpicking! Good for you though - just focus on the beautiful end result! It will be worth it!

  9. I really hate the binding process, doing it once is bad enough, but twice! Hope you're more successful the second time round =D
