My children DEVOUR sushi like you would not believe. I've never paper pieced either, but if that's what a beginner can do, maybe I should try it sometime!! And I love that Japanese style, you know, given we'll be there in a month. I'll have to keep my eye out for that pattern!
Ooohh, I love the FQ's. My favorite sushi, since I'm not a big seafood person, is the veggie roll, asparagus in the middle, avacado, rice and wrapped in very thin tomato slices.. YUM. :)
I didn't try sushi until I was 40. Now I love it. I don't know what the different types are called. Usually my daughter and I buy a mixed box and share it together. We love it all.
Sushi - well not for me I'm afraid but Miso Ramen soup or Salmon Ramen soup and chilli squid from Wagamama - YES PLEASE!! Delicious fabrics - thanks for the chance!!
I am a follower... and this particular fabric line was my first fabric crush ever. I even made my first own quilt in this line but due to sad circumstances decided to part with it last year (http://my-quilts.blogspot.com/2011/08/happiness-and-sadness.html)
Great job on the paper piecing! I really want to try some fun designs like these, but will have to do a few other things first. As for sushi, I'm a bit of a heathen and I haven't got a clue what they are all called, but it tastes good enough!
I've made my own veggie sushi nori rolls and stuff before - super tasty, but soooo long to make. It always looks so much fun though, if only it wasnt meat and fish!!
Oh I love a good veggie sushi, as long as there's no avocado, and I do like some of the prawn related ones. Still annoyed that the shop that made my favourite sushi has changed their options in their snack pack, it's not as nice now!
Have mentioned your give-away on my blog. I have a fabric give-away open until tomorrow night on my blog. http://findingfifth.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/frustrating-wednesday.html
I am a horribly picky eater (like five-year-old bad), so I have never tried sushi and I can say with certainty that I never will :-) However, I LOVE your paper-pieced sushi! Thanks so much for the chance to win your "left-overs" (had to continue the food theme!).
Oh Jess, my boys LOVE sushi. I like California rolls -- but do you know how much it costs to fill up teenage boys on sushi? Lucky, My Little Sailor is now stationed in Japan and can buy his own sushi!
Sushi? I ate that once, out of total peer pressure! My husband and I were at a party for all the new biology dept. graduate students where he goes to school, and when we were going around the buffet, I was like "oh, sushi, maybe I should try that," since I'd never had it before. Of course, then I had to...and it was awful. :( It was just a California roll, but that seaweed or whatever it is that wraps it together? Boo!
I must admit to never having tried sushi but I also admit to having never wanted to; I've sort of already made up my mind about it like my kids have about most vegetables I put in front of them ;>) Thanks for chance to win! (marshudson at comcast dot net)
Hi Jess-- Gosh you have been a busy girl since I looked here last! (I follow from FB rather than blogville normally) I cannot believe the amount you are getting through, and with that small person helping too :) Well done! OK, I love sushi. It is my whole family's favourite and my pick would have to be these yummy spider rolls they make at my local--friend crab in sushi--um, hell yeah!! Thanks for the giveaway--
I am now following your blog too and hope to remember to come more, honest, although my husband may leave me if I spend too much more time on the computer and goodness knows how I will ever get sewing done or get my kids to school--arghhh, look at the time!
Wish I could eat sushi- seems kind-of chic, but I am a squeamish vegetarian, so just couldnt do it! Now like you on FB, have mentioned it on my page. Also now a follower. Thanks! Sarah
Those blocks are killer! Seriously I'm in love. Especially with the teapot and cup as I'm a huge hot tea (oolong) drinker. I actually don't like sushi.
Jess your blocks look amazing!! Thanks so much for giving it a go, I'm dying to see what you do for the borders! I love sushi (obviously) lol, but I don't need to win the fabric, even though it's super cute! My stash keeps growing exponentially it seems!
I LOVE sushi more then anything and I also love your paper pieced pieces, adorable! =D
Salmon Sashimi is my favorite a think, but it soo hard to choose, I love it all! And now you made me crave sushi so I have to go out and eat that now *lol*
Your paper-piecing is wonderful!! That is something that I haven't really tried yet, but definitely want to! And sushi is another thing that I haven't tried yet--- but would like to some day! I *have* tried a Swedish dish that is made with raw fish, though, so that's sort of close, I guess. ;-) It was delicious! :-) Thanks so much for the chance to win!
It's been a challenge posting a comment today. Blogger tells me that I already follow your blog (I double checked). Here is an alternate contact if I win mlwright29(at) hotmail (dot) com
My favorite things to get at the sushi-go-rounds are Inari (tofu pocket of rice), Tamago (basically scrambled egg with a touch of soy sauce over a bit of sushi rice), and Ebi Tempura (batter-fried shrimp on a bit of sushi rice). I usually get edamame and maybe a bowl of udon to go with it all. No fish! So much yum!
I haven`t tried paper piecing but I really `need` to - you`ve done an amazing job. I have tried sushi and love California rolls. Thanks for the fab giveaway!
