  9. My children DEVOUR sushi like you would not believe. I've never paper pieced either, but if that's what a beginner can do, maybe I should try it sometime!! And I love that Japanese style, you know, given we'll be there in a month. I'll have to keep my eye out for that pattern!

  12. Ooohh, I love the FQ's. My favorite sushi, since I'm not a big seafood person, is the veggie roll, asparagus in the middle, avacado, rice and wrapped in very thin tomato slices.. YUM. :)

  15. I didn't try sushi until I was 40. Now I love it. I don't know what the different types are called. Usually my daughter and I buy a mixed box and share it together. We love it all.

  30. Great job on the paper piecing! I really want to try some fun designs like these, but will have to do a few other things first.
    As for sushi, I'm a bit of a heathen and I haven't got a clue what they are all called, but it tastes good enough!

  32. I've made my own veggie sushi nori rolls and stuff before - super tasty, but soooo long to make. It always looks so much fun though, if only it wasnt meat and fish!!

  34. Oh I love a good veggie sushi, as long as there's no avocado, and I do like some of the prawn related ones. Still annoyed that the shop that made my favourite sushi has changed their options in their snack pack, it's not as nice now!

  44. I am a horribly picky eater (like five-year-old bad), so I have never tried sushi and I can say with certainty that I never will :-) However, I LOVE your paper-pieced sushi! Thanks so much for the chance to win your "left-overs" (had to continue the food theme!).

  49. Oh Jess, my boys LOVE sushi. I like California rolls -- but do you know how much it costs to fill up teenage boys on sushi? Lucky, My Little Sailor is now stationed in Japan and can buy his own sushi!

  51. Sushi? I ate that once, out of total peer pressure! My husband and I were at a party for all the new biology dept. graduate students where he goes to school, and when we were going around the buffet, I was like "oh, sushi, maybe I should try that," since I'd never had it before. Of course, then I had to...and it was awful. :( It was just a California roll, but that seaweed or whatever it is that wraps it together? Boo!

  100. Your paper-piecing is wonderful!! That is something that I haven't really tried yet, but definitely want to! And sushi is another thing that I haven't tried yet--- but would like to some day! I *have* tried a Swedish dish that is made with raw fish, though, so that's sort of close, I guess. ;-) It was delicious! :-) Thanks so much for the chance to win!

My favorite things to get at the sushi-go-rounds are Inari (tofu pocket of rice), Tamago (basically scrambled egg with a touch of soy sauce over a bit of sushi rice), and Ebi Tempura (batter-fried shrimp on a bit of sushi rice). I usually get edamame and maybe a bowl of udon to go with it all. No fish! So much yum!
