I've decided to quilt each 'log' in a one of about eight different designs - but now I'm second guessing myself. I would love some honest feedback - is it too much? Or does it work? This is about five hours work, so I'm not all that keen to unpick it (argh!) - but I'm a bit worried it will look too busy with all the different motifs.
In other news, I finally broke my Instagram virginity yesterday ;o) I can really see the appeal of it now - like so many of you said, it's a brilliant way to micro-blog. Rather than bombard you with quilty progress on my blog, I'll be sharing it over there.
Back to quilting this monster!
xx Jess
OMG shrub! It is gorgeous! Its not too busy for my tastes, it complements the fabric beautifully. Can I have it???

ReplyDeleteit's seriously perfect!!!!! very tula pinky in quilting style :)
ReplyDeleteI really love the quilting you've done so far! It's a lot of work I'm sure, but the texture is so lovely and it matches the feel of the prints perfectly.
ReplyDeleteDO NOT UNPICK! DO NOT UNPICK! Jess my friend, you appear to be temporarily blinded by your own brilliance. I'm sure it'll subside with a good night's rest ;)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks seriously awesome - all wavy and bubbly and lovely like being under water. I really don't think it's too busy, because the thread blends so beautifully with the blocks that you're just left with texture (gorgeous gorgeous texture). And I'm glad that is 5 hours work - I was wondering how on earth you quilted so quickly before I read that!
ReplyDeleteI can see why you would think it's too busy, but I think it adds to the charm! I still see an underwater scene each time I see the quilt, with the cool, light shallows and the dark depths. The quilting just adds the ebb and flow of the tides and the movement of the water and plants.
ReplyDeleteIf you really aren't sure, just finish up the quilt in the same manner and send it too me. I think it is marvelous.
ReplyDeleteHere's some more quilty love coming your way! This is absolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love all the different quilting. Yes it will take awhile but it's "sew" worth it!
no need for second guessing, your choices are spot on. loving the whole deal
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! I think you should go with it :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is absolutely stunning! Don't rip it out, I can't wait to see it all come together!
ReplyDeleteHaha get over yourself Jess it is awesme as usual! Keep on going!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazingly amazing. This was an excellent choice for the blue blocks, as it truly looks like an underwater scene. If you are feeling like it is too much to do this all over (which, honestly, I couldn't tell you if continuing this all over would look perfect or like too much of a good thing), then maybe you could make the quilting less and less dense as you head out towards the darkest and lightest corners.
ReplyDeleteDo not be picking that out, it looks fabulous!
ReplyDeletedefinitely not too much - it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above! Definitely don't unpick, definitely not too much, definitely envious of your FMQ talent (ok that part wasn't written above, that's just from me ;) )
ReplyDeleteIt look awesome! Keep it going. Will be lookong for you on instagram!
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think it is beautiful-as usual, your quilting is perfection! If you are worried about it getting too busy, I wouldn't unpick, just go lighter/less varied in the quilting as you move to the outer corners of the quilt. It will appear planned that way.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! I love that seahorse quilting in the upper left corner--but really all of it is awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe circle based designs I LOVE. Reminds me of bubbles underwater. Don't pick this out!
ReplyDeleteYou know how sometimes a quilt with a lot going on can benefit from a simple quilting design? Somehow I think that this one can actually benefit from crazy variety in the quilting! I think it looks fantastic, and you should absolutely not pick it out! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous and looks just perfect to me! Keep going please! :)
ReplyDeleteLoving where this is going!
ReplyDeleteIt looks incredible, don't touch that ripper! I don't IG so feel sad to miss out :(
ReplyDeleteLove it - your FMQ is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt is stunning, I say carry on as you are.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting is awesome!
ReplyDeleteA masterpiece in progress.

I too think you are absolutely on the right track! It's already looking stunning and when it's finished it'll be an heirloom.
ReplyDeleteKeep going!!! your quilting is brilliant. like ripples and splashes in water. I've been wondering about instogram...
ReplyDeleteKeep going, keep going, keep going!!! Don't even think about unpicking, it's way too fabulous!
